Best Time to Go
Year-round. The shoulder season is April through July and a great time to go for less crowds, but remarkable wildlife vieiwing. The migrations is gaining in numbers in the Serengerti and herds are seen in mass. August through October is high season with the greatest number of visitors and optimum wildlife viewing as the grasses are low. November and December are the light rains with scattered showers and fewer crowds and January through March is considered the proper rainy season. The rainy season still offers plentiful game drives with great wildlife viewing and many days of no rain.

April - July cool during the morning and evening and hot during the day, August - October is hot and dry, Novemeber thrugh December- scattered showers, January - March - cool and wet rainy season.

Best Time to Go
May through October. January through March is cyclone season and travel during this time is not advised. The island literally shuts down due to severe rain and storms. September to December is a good time to visit, as many of the snakes and lizards populating the island come out of hibernation during this time. Peak months are July and August.
Climate
The East side of the island is characterized be humidity and moisture with frequent rain. The mountains, including Antananarivo, are dry, cool and windy during May to October, shifting to warm and thundery from November to April.

Wifi
Don't expect good wifi in Rwanda or Zanzibar at all locations, but there are at least hotels advertising good service. Most accommodations will have a computer terminal with an internet connection, but it is often working only inermittantly and you may be charged to use it. Little or no access while on safari in bush lodges and camps and limited access in outlying areas.
Wildlife
Besides gorillas there are more than 700 kinds of birds, colobus monkeys plus buffalo, zebra and giraffe. Tanzania offers the Big Five, plus all African wildlife including wildebeest, warthog, zebra, giraffe, birdlife, and marine wildlife in Zanzibar including endangered Green Turtles.

May - August is winter and tends to be cold and rainy with some days of t-shirt sunny weather. Summer is October - February temperatures upwards of 90 degrees Farenheit. March, April mostly warm and balmy. September varies from warm and sunny to scattered showers. Water temperatures are icey cold year round and tend to be colder in the winter months due to the artic current flowing North to the shores of South Africa. Water in Durban tends to be warmer than Cape Town. Whale season is June through Novemer with the highest concentrations in October when the whales comes to mate and calve in the warm waters and sandy bottom of False Bay.

Wildlife
Mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, red colobus monkey and the rare L’Hoest’s monkey. The forest has one of the highest diversity and density of primates in Africa totalling 13 species including the black and white colobus, bluemonkey and grey-cheeked mangabey, red tailed monkey, bush babies and pottos. The park also hosts over 325 species of birds including the yellow spotted nicator, yellowr umped tinkerbird, littlegreenbul, green breasted pitta, African pitta, crowned eagle and the black bee-eater. There are a number of impressive mammals including forest elephants, buffaloes, bush pigs, duikers and bats. A keen observer may see some of the reptiles and amphibians as well as a colourful variety of butterflies.

Best Time to Go
Year-round. The shoulder season is April through July and a great time to go for less crowds, but remarkable wildlife vieiwing. During this time the migration is gaining in numbers in the Serengerti and herds are seen in mass. August through October is high season with the greatest number of visitors and optimum wildlife viewing as the grasses are low. November and December are the light rains with scattered showers and fewer crowds and January through March is considered the proper rainy season. The rainy season still offers plentiful game drives with great wildlife viewing and many days of no rain. The wildebeest migrtion move in a circular pattern year-round throughout the region.

Best Time to Go
April through November. August to October is high season so accommodation tends to fill up and should be booked well in advance.
